My name is Melissa. I am a first grade teacher. I have been teaching for five years in dual language immersion district.About 80% of our students are native Spanish speakers, and receive literacy instruction in Spanish. All of my students work together in English and Spanish with the goal of being bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural. I created this blog to help all bilingual teachers. As a bilingual teacher we don't have many resources available. Most of it we have to translate or is teacher made. I found that blogging is an excellent resources for sharing ideas.
We have gone over the parts of a plant. I sent home a sunflower printout. Students were to create the flower using stuff found around the house. (Example macaroni, beans, rice, etc). They had to label the parts of the plants. I teach science in Spanish so some of the pictures are in Spanish. But they came out some beautiful.
